If you are part of the data science team, you will like to know that the simple fact of having data engineers in the team can bring great results.
This is because, as seen in the last two years, the pandemic accelerated the development of organizations and made some specific processes and roles necessary for companies to stay competitive. One of these roles is that of the data engineer, who is highly sought after today.
We talked to Jeronymo Marcondes, professor of the MBA USP/Esalq in Data Science and Analytics, who talked to us in a series of articles, confirming the importance of the area and helping understand more about its extensions.
Those who follow the blog already know that the scenario in which data engineering is found is extremely promising, since the world is increasingly digital and the amount of data generated and analyzed only increases.
Besides, having data engineering in the curriculum only adds to your professional life. Today, the data science market keeps on growing, and the sooner you specialize in the area, the faster you will be amongst the best.
It is worth mentioning that changes don’t wait for the right moment, so thinking about investing in your career is a task for today. Urgency in the market
According to a research published by Intera, HR Tech for digital recruitment, there was, only in the first semester of the year 2021, a 485% growth in the opening of vacancies related to data intelligence.
The positions vary between data analysts, scientists and, as we will talk more below, data engineers.
Why have data engineers in the team?
Marcondes reinforces the fundamental role of data engineers and the reasons why it is worth having them in the team: “Basically, data engineers perform the processes of data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL).”
ETL, then, deals with the integration of data in these three steps (extraction, transformation and loading) and are used to combine and prepare data from any sources.
With ETL, companies can act immediately, based on the data collected by streaming data and analyzed in real time.
“The data engineer is the professional who will ensure that the data necessary for data scientists arrive ready to be used, which is an essential role within the process”, explains Marcondes.
